MSWIM fifth after day one of CCs

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team finds themselves in fifth place after day one of the 2015 Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Gettysburg College.

The Bears have 124 points, but, are within 18 points of third place Franklin & Marshall. Host Gettysburg leads the way with 233.5 points.

Starting with Friday night's finals, Ursinus took fourth in the 200 yard medley relay in the A final with the team of junior Chris Hoops, freshman Colin McNamara, senior Jacob Robinson and senior Ben Jumper finishing with a 1:26.85. In the B final, the team of junior Nick DiPalo, sophomore Dylan Cooper, junior Alec Heckman and sophomore Spencer Collopy finishing with a time of 1:28.97, earning ten points.

In the 500 free, sophomore Marcus Wagner finished third with a time of 4:40.02, shaving two seconds off his preliminary time. Senior Josef Gershun was eighth with a time of 4:49.47, while sophomore Dylan Cooper was 16th with a time of 4:56.03.

In the 200 IM, Robinson was fifth overall with a time of 1:5545, while junior Keith Larkin was 13th with a personal best of 1:59.41.

The Bears scored their last points of the evening in the 400 medley relay with the team of Larkin, Hoops, Jumper and sophomore William Benn going fifth at 3:30.42, with Robinson, Collopy, Heckman and McNamara going 12 with a time of 3:35.74.

In Friday's prelims, which set up who races in the A and B finals in the evening session, Wagner swam a 4:42.00 to finish third, while Gershun set a personal record with a time of 4:45.01.

In the 200 IM, Robinson finished seventh with a time of 1:57.19.
