Men's Swimming wins opener over Dickinson,104-101

CARLISLE, Pa – Ranked third in the preseason Centennial poll, Ursinus men's swimming slipped past Dickinson 104-101, Saturday morning.

Opening with the 400 Yard Medley Relay, Ursinus placed in second with a time of 3:47.91 led by William Benn, Keith Larkin, Christian Hoops and Benjamin Jumper.

Ursinus took 12 points from the 1000 yard freestyle with Marcus Wagner finishing in first place with a time of 10:10.96, Josef Gershun in 4th with a time of 10:32.60 and Henry Nonack right behind him with a time of 10:41.68.

In the 200 yard freestyle Ursinus placed three of the top four with Chris Barthold finishing in second with a time of 1:52.78, Robert McNamara with  1:56.04 and Dylan Cooper with 1:56.17.

For the 50 yard freestyle the Bears placed in third and fourth withNicholas Dipalo in third at 23.54 and Joao Angelotto finishing .11 seconds behind in fourth place.

Jacob Robinson took first place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:03.99 and Larkin finished in third with a time of 2:07.45.

The Bears took three of the top four in the 200 yard Butterfly with Hoops in first with a time of 2:02.77, McNamara finishing in third with a time of 2:07.42 and Alec Heckman in fourth with a time of 2:10.30.

In the 100 yard freestyle, Jumper took first place with a time of 50.62 while Angelotto and Dylan Cooper finished in fourth and fifth respectively.

Benn took first place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.53, while James Marrone and Nonack took fourth and fifth place with times of 2:06.16 and 2:07.27 respectively.

For the 500 yard freestyle the Wagner took second with a time of 4:55.59 while Gershun and Barthold took fourth and fifth place.

Finally Ursinus took first and third in the 400 freestyle relay for thirteen points and their first win of the season.

The Bears will be back in the pool at home against Albright November 5th.
