Men's Swimming beats F&M

LANCASTER, Pa - Ursinus (6-3, 3-2 Centennial) took first place five times as they narrowly defeated Franklin and Marshall, 107-98, Saturday afternoon at McGinness Pool in men's swimming action.

In the 400 medley relay, Ursinus took the top two as William Benn, Charles Messa, Chris Hoops and Alexander Pandelidis took first with a time of 3:40.20. Chase Renninger, Jacob Robinson, Alec Heckman and Benjamin Jumper finished with 3:42.23, in second place.

Marcus Wagner finished in first in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:50.98 and Joe Gershun finished third with a time of 17:34.19.

In the 200 freestyle, Pandelidis took second place with a time of 1:49.27.

Ursinus placed in second in third in the 50 yard freestyle with Renninger finishing in a close second at 22.72 only .3 seconds from the first place finisher.  Finishing third was Spencer Collopy finishing with a time of 23.48.

In the 200 IM, Robinson was the only Ursinus swimmer to finish in the top three with a second place finish at 2:02.97.

In the 200 butterfly, Hoops and Heckman finished first and third, with Hoops getting a time of 2:01.23 and Heckman at 2:04.25.

In the 100 freestyle, Pandelidis and Collopy finished second and third, Pandelidis finishing at 50.14 and Collopy finishing at 52.06.

Benn and Renninger finished first and third in the 200 backstroke with Benn finishing first at 1:58.00 and Renninger in third with 2:02.02

In the 500 freestyle, Wagner came in first place by a hair with a time of 4:51.49 only .06 seconds from the second place finisher.  Gershun came in third place at 5:04.66.

Messa was the only Ursinus swimmer to finish in the top three in the 200 breast stroke finishing third with a time of 2:20.37.

Finally the men were able to seal a victory finishing in second and third place in the 400 freestyle relay with Hoops, Callopy, Nick Dipalo and Heckman finishing in second with a time of 3:22.21 and finishing in third Wagner, Cooper, Gershun and Jumper with a time of 3:22.55.

The Bears will finish at home against Washington College February 1st at 1 p.m.
