COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team, swimming in their final home meet of the season, took a 109-96 win over Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time the Bears have defeated the Diplomats in a dual meet in school history.

With the score 85-84 with two events remaining, Ursinus went 1-2 in the 100 breast to take a 98-90 lead, then was second in the 200 free relay to win the meet.

In that breast stroke, senior David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin School) won the event at 1:02.07 followed by senior Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) in second at 1:02.45.

In the final relay, the team of junior John Wieczorek (Milltown, N.J./St. Joseph), sophomore Josef Gershun (Southbury, Conn./Fork Union), junior Alexander Pandelidis (York, Pa./Dallastown) and sophomore Benjamin Jumper (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) was second at 1:30.39.

Ursinus opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay at 1:40.62 with the team of sophomore Jacob Robinson (Columbia, Pa./Lancaster Catholic), Quick, freshman Christopher Hoops (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) and Wieczorek taking first.

In the 1650, senior Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown) won the event at 17:09.51.

Pandelidis took second in the 200 free at 1:48.59, while Wieczorek was second in the 50 free at 22.27.

Robinson won the 200 IM at 2:02.92 and the 100 back at 54.98.

Hoops won the 100 fly at 54.50.

Ursinus goes to Washington on Saturday
