Men's Swimming falls to Swarthmore, 110-95

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Ursinus dropped a 110-95 decision to Swarthmore in men's swimming on Saturday afternoon. The Bears fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial.

Senior Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) continued his strong start as he won the 1000 free at 10:16.91, with senior David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin) winning the 50 free at 22.44.

Freshman Christian Hoops (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) won the 200 fly at 2:03.98, while senior Philip Quick won the 200 breast at 2:19.10.

Junior Alexander Pandelidis (York, Pa./Dallastown) was second in the 200 free at 1:50.76, junior John Wieczorek (Milltown, N.J./St. Joseph High School) was second in the 50 free at 22.54 and in the 100 free at 49.88.

In the 200 IM, sophomore Jacob Robinson (Columbia, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) was second at 2:05.51. Paine was second in the 500 free at 4:52.50.

Third place finishes were earned by sophomore Benjamin Jumper (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Spring) in the 200 free at 1:54.24 and the 100 free at 50.29, freshman Alec Heckman (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) in the 200 fly at 2:06.35, Robinson in the 200 back at 2:07.59.

Sophomore Josef Gershun (Southbury, Conn./Fork Union Military) was third in the 500 free at 5:01.72, while Yazbeck was third in the 200 breast at 2:20.39.

In the relays, the team of Robinson, Hoops, Quick and Jumper were second in the 400 medley at 3:42.88, while the team of Paine, Hoops, Pandelidis and freshman Nicholas Dipalo (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) was second in the 400 free at 3:21.76.
