Men's Swimming downs McDaniel, 114-85

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team won its third straight meet on Saturday, with a 114-85 win over McDaniel, to even its Centennial mark at 1-1.

Bears opened the meet by going 1-2 in the 200 yard medley relay as the team of sophomore Jacob Robinson (Columbia, Pa./Lancaster Catholic), senior Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional), freshman Christian Hoops (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) and senior David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin) won the event at 1:41.15. The team of freshman James Marrone (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton-Harmon), junior Charles Messa (Parkland, Pa./North Broward), freshman Alec Heckman (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and freshman Nick DiPalo (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) was second at 1:46.34.

Ursinus went 2-3 in the 1000 free at sophomore Josef Gershun (Southbury, Conn./Fork Union) was second at 10:43.59 and senior David Wagner (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was third at 10:56.45.

Junior Alex Pandelidis (York, Pa./Dallastown) was tops in the 200 free at 1:49.33, followed by sophomore Benjamin Jumper (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) in third at 1:53.31.

Junior John Wieczorek (Milltown, N.J./St. Joseph) was second in the 50 free at 22.49, followed by Yazbeck in third at 22.99.

In the 200 IM, Robinson was second at 2:05.40, followed by Quick in third at 2:07.01.

Hoops captured the 100 fly at 55.21, followed by Pandelidis in second at 56.11

Jumper was second in the 100 free at 50.19, while Wieczorek was third at 51.67.

Robinson took first in the 100 back at 55.24, with Marrone in third at 58.59.

Gershun netted a second-place finish in the 500 free at 5:11.30.

In the 100 breast, Quick won the event at 1:02.43, followed by Yazbeck in second at 1:06.16 and Messa in third at 1:06.37.

Ursinus goes to Gettysburg next Saturday.
