A Record Weekend, Part 2

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team earned its highest point total and finish in school history on Sunday night after the third day of the 2012 Centennial Conference Swimming Championships at Gettysburg College.

The Bears finished in fourth place with a score of 502 points.

Senior Chris Smith won the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.74. Earlier in the day, he had set a new school and conference record with a time of 1:52.72. Smith's time also earend him a NCAA provisional time.

In the opening 1650 free, junior Scott Paine took second with a time of 16:35.05, with freshman Joe Gershun in fourth at 16:59.53. Junior David Wagner was sixth with a time of 17:04.06.

In the 200 back, freshman Jacob Robinson was ninth at 1:58.40, with freshman Ben Jumper 12th at 2:02.85 and sophomore Doug Hickey 16th at 2:08.88.

In the 100 free, sophomore John Wieczorek had finished 13th at 48.01 with junior David Yazbeck 15th at 48.46.

In the 200 breast, junior Philip Quick was fourth at 2:12.35, with sophomore Charles Messa 13th at 2:17.52 and Hickey at 2:21.68.

Following Smith in the fly, sophomore Alexander Pandelidis was 11th at 2:01.05.

Finally, in the 400 free relay, the team of Yazbeck, Wieczorek, Smith and Jumper finished fourth at 3:09.72.
