COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In its final swim meet of the 2011 calendar year, the Ursinus men's swimming team defeated Cabrini 105-49.

Ursinus went 1-2 in the first event the 200 yard medley relay, with the team of junior David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin School), sophomore Charles Messa (Parkland, Fla./North Broward), sophomore John Wieczorek (Milltown, N.J./St. Joseph High School) and junior Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) winning the event at 1:44.46.

In the 1000 free, junior Nicholas Roberts (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) won the event at 11:26.77, followed by a third place finish from sophomore Thomas Steiner (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) at 12:02.50.

In the 200 free, junior Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) won the event at 1:49.42, followed by senior Kevin Tallon (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) in second at 1:56.16.

In the 50 free, Wieczorek won the event at 22.33, with senior Christopher Doyle (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) going second at 24.15.

Freshman Josef Gershun (Southbury, Conn./Fork Union Military Academy) took second in the 200 IM at 2:08.71, with Yazbeck going third at 2:11.68.

Sophomore Mark Hickey (South Waverly, Pa./Sayre Area) was second in the 100 fly at 1:01.89, while Steiner was third at 1:02.59.

Paine took top honors in the 100 free (49.68) followed by junior Ryan Furlong (Douglaston, N.Y./Xavier) (52.94) and junior Jacob Frey (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) (55.20).

In the 100 back, sophomore Alexander Pandelidis (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) was first at 1:00.11, with sophomore Jonathan Lawrence (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) in second at 1:02.34 and freshman Matthew Ryan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) in third at 1:05.14.

From there, the Bears swam exhibition the rest of the way.
