Men's Swimming wins conference opener over McDaniel

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team won its Centennial opener on Saturday, defeating McDaniel 106-88.

The Bears started with a win in the opening 400 yard medley relay as sophomore Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area), sophomore David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin School), junior Chris Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) and freshman John Wieczorek (Milltown, N.J./St. Joseph High School) finished with a time of 3:45.89.

In the 1000 free, sophomore David Wagner (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) finished second with a time of 11:06.76.

Senior Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) finished first in the 200 free, with a winning time of 1:50.75, followed by freshman Alexander Pandelidis (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) in second at 1:52.03.

In the 50 free, Wieczorek and sophomore Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) went 1-2 with times of 2:23.32 and 2:25.61, respectively. Yazbeck picked up a second place finish in the 200 IM at 2:09.88.

In the 200 fly, Smith won the event with a time of 2:03.83.

Tannenbaum picked up his second top finish of the day, winning the 100 free at 49.82, followed by Quick in second at 50.70.

Wagner was second in the 200 back at 2:15.94.

Paine and Pandelidis went 1-2 in the 500 free, as Paine finished at 4:56.23, followed by Pandelidis at 5:09.07.
