COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Less than 48 hours after returning back from
their winter training trip to Costa Rica, the Ursinus College swim
teams held a dual meet with York (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.
The women prevailed 140-119 to improve to 8-1, while the men lost
to the Spartans 154-108 to fall to 5-4.
After dropping the opening relay, freshman Scott Paine
(York, Pa./Dallastown Area) picked up first place points
for Ursinus in the 1000 free with a time of 10:20.24. Junior
Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) won
the 200 freestyle at 1:50.46, followed by Paine winning the 100
backstroke at 57.42.
Freshman Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland
Regional) finished second in the 100 breaststroke at
1:04.88.
Sophomore Chris Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph's
Prep) finished in the top spot in the 200 fly with a time
of 2:03.15, with Tannenbaum finishing second in the 50 free at
23.02.
Paine won his third event of the day, capturing the 200 backstroke
with a time of 2:01.70. Tannenbaum won the 500 free with a time of
4:59.22.
Smith also finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of
56.34.
Ursinus got its final first place points in the 400 free relay with
a time of 3:26.01, from the team of Tannenbaum, Smith, sophomore
Kevin Tallon (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional)
and freshman David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston
Latin).
Ursinus travels to F&M on Saturday.
