Bears swept by Gettysburg

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Gettysburg swept both ends of a Centennial Conference swim meet on Saturday from Ursinus.

The women won 141-64, while the men won 116-89. Both Ursinus teams fell to 4-1 and 1-1 in the Centennial.

The men picked up four first-place finishes, starting with a 1-2 finish in the 1000-free. Junior Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) won the event at 10:25.56, followed by freshman Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) in second at 10:32.45.

Freshman David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center, Mass./Boston Latin School) won the 50-free at 22.99, followed by a top finish from freshman Philip Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) in the 200-IM at 2:05.29. Paine also picked up a win in the 500-free at 5:02.96.

Sophomore Chris Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) had two second-place finishes in the 200-free (1:52.32) and the 200-butterfly (2:02.50).

Quick finished second in the 200-breaststroke at 2:21.18.

Finally, Paine, freshman David Wagner (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), Tannenbaum and Yazbeck finished second in the 400-free relay at 3:25.23.
