Grenda, Men's Soccer Roll Over Bryn Athyn

Grenda, Men's Soccer Roll Over Bryn Athyn

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Marco Grenda's latest scoring outburst provided the spark as the Ursinus College men's soccer team cruised to a dominating 4-0 victory over Bryn Athyn on Tuesday night.

Grenda scored the game's first two goals and assisted on the third for the Bears (4-3), who notched their second home clean sheet of the season. The junior booted home a nice cross from Jerry Bardol in the 16th minute, then headed in a cross from Aidan O'Malley at the far post in the 20th minute.

In the 28th minute, Grenda set up O'Malley's goal with a nice lofted cross to the back post, where O'Malley was there to head home.

Issi Brainsky capped the scoring with his first career goal, a penalty kick in the 76th minute after Tommy Mollis was brought down in the box after a run down the right side.

Grenda's star turn has been remarkable. After scoring one goal as a rookie, he has developed into the Centennial Conference's leading goal-scorer with eight on the season. He has three two-goal games to his credit, and his 19 points are the most in the conference; Grenda has only gone one game without a point.

Mollis set up the fourth goal with a speedy run down the flank and also received a secondary assist on Grenda's second goal with a beautiful through ball to O'Malley.

The Bears never stopped attacking and racked up 28 shots, one shy of their season high, to just five for the Lions (2-3).

Tyler Lewin made the only save he needed to in order to pick up his first solo shutout of the season and the fourth of his career.

The Bears stay at home to take on Dickinson in a Family Day nightcap on Saturday.
