Men's Soccer Upended by Johns Hopkins

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer team was unable to keep pace with a potent Johns Hopkins squad in a 6-0 Centennial Conference defeat in its home finale on Saturday.

Achim Younker and Liam Moylan scored two goals each for the first-place Blue Jays (13-1-2, 6-0-2), who remained unbeaten in conference play.

Junior Brandon Lillian collected six saves for Ursinus (2-12-1, 0-8), while junior Daan Slaats and freshman Christian Wady each started for the second time this season.

Moylan got Hopkins on the board just 3:36 into the match and Younker took it from there, scoring twice in a span of 2:25. He found the back of the net on a diving tap-in from a cross in the 20th minute, then deposited another cross in the 22nd minute to hand the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Moylan struck 2:21 into the second stanza and R.J. Moore headed in his own rebound in the 60th minute. Jonathon Brown scored off a deflection with 2:46 remaining to cap the day's scoring.

The Bears had a great chance to score in the 58th minute, but Hopkins goalie Bryan See got a hand on freshman R.J. Liszewski's quick blast off a cross from junior Justin Molyneaux.

Hopkins commanded a 23-3 advantage in shots, though Ursinus matched the visitors with four corner kicks. Freshman Braden Burns joined Molyneaux and Liszewski to account for the Bears' shots.

The Bears have a week off before concluding their season at Gettysburg on Saturday, October 28.
