COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ninety minutes of regulation and two ten minute overtime periods were not enough for the men's soccer team to get a result on Wednesday, as the Bears and Goucher battled to a scoreless tie.

Both teams battled through most of regulation time, with freshman keeper Matthew Kenwood shouldering the first 45 minutes. Kenwood made his fourth start of the season, stopping the only two shots that he faced. Coach Keith Cappo opted to put in junior Brandon Lillian at the half, and the keeper did not disappoint, coming up with a handful of big saves at the end of regulation as well as in overtime.

With less than six minutes left in regulation, Goucher's Moibanda Rogers sent a shot at Lillian, who made the stop. Just more than three minutes later, the Gophers almost got a game-winner, but Lillian came up big again, stopping a would-be go-ahead attempt from Drew Phillips just after a shot rang off the crossbar back in front of the net, allowing for the scoring chance.

Lillian showed up again in the first overtime period, stopping a line-drive shot with less than three minutes to go. The Bears' best chance in the first OT frame came off the foot of junior Derek Rudy, who sent a drive in from about 20 yards out that sailed just over the crossbar.

Lillian was called upon again midway through the second overtime period; when a Goucher cross found its way into the box at the feet of Brandon Cohen, who sent a shot that Lillian hauled in. The keeper finished the matchup with six saves.

Freshman R.J. Liszewski had an impressive day on the outside part of the field, setting up a handful of Ursinus scoring chances, including a pair of shots that he sent on goal.

The Bears' next match is Saturday, when they visit Muhlenberg before traveling to Haverford on Wednesday. Their next match at Patterson Field is October 21 vs. #9 Johns Hopkins.
