Men's Soccer to "Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer"

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer will team will sport a new look for a good cause during Saturday's home game against Cabrini, donning special gold laces in support of the Go4theGoal Foundation's Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer initiative.

Beginning in 2011, professional, collegiate, and youth teams have participated in raising funds and awareness for children battling cancer. To date, over 100,000 athletes have laced up to show their support of and commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer, and the Bears' players and coaching staff will soon join their names to that list.

Go4theGoal, a non-profit organization founded in 2006 by Dr. Richard and Beth Stefannaci soon after their oldest son was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, provides financial assistance to children undergoing cancer treatment and their families. It runs hospital-based programs, grants special wishes, and supplies state-of-the-art electronic products to pediatric oncology units nationwide. For the past three years, Go4theGoal has earned the honor of "Top Rated Non-Profit" by Great Nonprofits.

Per their website, "Go4theGoal's unwavering mission is to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes. Through our firsthand experience with pediatric cancer and our medical background, Go4theGoal provides the best practices to patients, their families, and the hospitals and staff that care for them."

The Bears and Cavaliers are scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. on Patterson Field.
