Men's Soccer falls to Washington College, 3-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Washington College on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Patterson Field.

Despite owning a 19-15 advantage on shots, Ursinus got only one goal in the 67th minute when senior forward Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) scored on an assist from junior midfielder Aaron Nelson (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood).

Washington College scored twice in the first period, the first goal coming in the 19th minute when senior midfielder Cody Gray scored on a pass from junior midfielder Drew Thompson.

The Shoremen then scored in the 34th minute when junior forward Chris Lewandowski hit a shot over the goalie off of a pass from junior midfielder Christian Cooke.

Washington would take on one more in the 62nd minute when Thompson scored on an assist from junior forward Brian Wilkinson.

For Ursinus, junior goalkeeper Vince Maiorino (Mount Laurel, N.J./Bishop Eustace) made nine saves.

Ursinus will be at Immaculata on Wednesday.
