Men's Soccer ties Swarthmore, 1-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the sixth time this year, the Ursinus College men's soccer team went into overtime. And for the third time this season, the Bears ended in a tie, this time ending in a 1-1 stalemate with Swarthmore at Patterson Field on Saturday afternoon.

Playing in their third straight double overtime game, Ursinus took a very early 1-0 lead when senior Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) scored on a through ball from fellow senior Dean DerSimonian (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) 1:20 into the game.

Swarthmore (4-6-1, 1-2-1 Centennial) tied the score at the 3:12 mark when junior forward Billy Evers scored on a header off of a free kick from junior defender Ryan Meuth.

Despite being outshot 20-14, Ursinus (1-5-3, 0-2-2 Centennial)  got ten saves on the afternoon by junior Vince Maiorino (Mount Laurel, N.J./Bishop Eustace).

Ursinus did have an 11-4 edge on corner kicks.
