LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's soccer gave second-ranked Franklin & Marshall all It could handle on Wednesday afternoon, before the Diplomats (10-0, 3-0 Centennial) scored just 29 seconds into the second overtime in a 2-1 win over the Bears (1-5-2, 0-2-1 Centennial) at Tylus Field.
Alex Bilodeau scored in the 101st minute for the Diplomats on a penalty kick goal.
Most of the action occurred in the 17th and 18th minutes as F&M took an early 1-0 lead at 16:45 when Devon Malfitano scored on an assist by Chase TenBrook off of a throw in. Ursinus would answer at 17:54 when Ryan Butler scored on a breakaway goal to tie the score at 1-all.
Butler actually had another shot on goal in the 20th minute, but, it was saved by Diplomat goalie Trevor Britton.
Despite being outshot 18-6, Ursinus got five saves from goalkeeper Vince Maiorino who kept the Bears in the game.
Ursinus hosts Swarthmore on Saturday.
