COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Dickinson broke open a scoreless match with Ursinus with three goals in the second half as the Red Devils (10-3-2, 5-1-1 Centennial) defeated the Bears (5-10, 1-6 Centennial) 3-1 Saturday afternoon in men's soccer play at Patterson Field.
Senior midfielder Shepherd Waldenberger scored the eventual game-winner in the 65th minute unassisted with a shot in the box. The win for the Red Devils was the 100th career win for head coach Brian Redding.
Dickinson took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute as junior forward Derek Kachadurian chipped a ball over Ursinus freshman goalie Kieran Keyser (Petersburg, N.J./Ocean City) on a pass from junior forward Jamie Martin.
Ursinus' lone goal came in the 81st minute as freshman Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) headed a shot in on a pass from freshman forward Dean DerSimonian (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Two minutes later, however, Dickinson added an insurance goal as senior forward Nicolas Tierno scored on a shot in the box.
Dickinson owned a 19-11 edge in shots and a 7-4 edge in corners.
Keyser finished with four saves, while Dickinson senior goalkeeper Christian Hall made four saves.
