Setting the tone

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ursinus College men's soccer senior defender Colin Kunkle's (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) first goal of the season in the 61st minute on a free kick from near midfield gave Ursinus (3-3, 1-0 Centennial) a 2-1 win over Gettysburg (2-3, 0-1 Centennial) Saturday afternoon in men's soccer action.

The win marked the first time Ursinus defeated the Bullets since 2000, and marked only the second win for Ursinus over Gettysburg in conference play since 1993.

Freshman forward Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) continued his hot start as he scored his eighth goal of the season to tie the score at 1-all in the 56th minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Charles Brodsky (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Friends Central).

Gettysburg had taken an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a goal by Tyler Shaffer.

After Kunkle's goal, freshman goalkeeper Kieran Keyser (Petersburg, N.J./Ocean City) made the lead stand as he made two key saves. His diving save with 5:09 left in the game as he dove to his left preserved the win.

Ursinus had just five shots in the game, compared to 19 for the Bullets.

Ursinus hosts Immaculata on Thursday.
