COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Nationally-ranked Muhlenberg broke open a close game by scoring two goals in the second half as the Mules (10-1-6, 5-1-3 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (2-14-1, 0-9 Centennial) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for the Bears.
Muhlenberg scored early in the contest as sophomore back Kyle Plifka scored unassisted at 3:22 on a header for a 1-0 lead, followed by a goal from junior midfielder Josh Luginbuhl at 66 minutes to give the Mules a 2-0 lead.
With 17:32 remaining in the game, sophomore forward Danny Way punched home a shot from the right corner for the final margin.
Ursinus, outshot by the Mules 19-4, got nine saves from junior goalkeeper Mike Alfieri (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape).
