COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Swarthmore’s Micha Rose had a goal
and assist as the sixth-ranked Garnet (11-1, 4-1 Centennial)
defeated Ursinus (2-8-1, 0-5 Centennial) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon
in men’s soccer action.
The Bears did take a 1-0 lead early in the contest as sophomore
midfielder Andrew Machalick (Mountaintop,
Pa./Crestwood) scored on an assist from sophomore forward
Jean Carlo Cordova (Quito, Ecuador/Spring-Ford) at
22:59.
Swarthmore tied the score at 1-all in the 31st minute as Morgan
Langley scored on an assist from Rose. Rose then scored the
game-winner at 55:29 for the Garnet, who outshot the Bears
18-4.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Alfieri (Mount Laurel,
N.J./Lenape) had 11 saves for the Bears in the loss.
