Atillasoy Named Scholar All-American

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College men's lacrosse standout Hakan Atillasoy was recognized as a Division III Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

The Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens in their communities. The USILA Selection Committee chooses an overall team representing Division I, II, and III.

A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

The Scholar All-America nod is the latest in a lengthy resume of athletic and academic excellence for Atillasoy, who graduated from Ursinus in May with a 3.90 cumulative GPA and a bachelor's degree in applied economics (finance concentration) in tow. Atillasoy was the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's lacrosse in 2020, when he was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. He is a three-year Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient and two-time Academic All-Centennial performer.

On the field, Atillasoy is one of the most accomplished players in program history. He received his second career All-America award with an honorable mention nod from the USILA this past spring following a stellar campaign in which eh led the Bears in assists (13) and points (27), landing fourth all-time in goals (107), fifth in points (157), and eighth in assists (50). Atillasoy was selected to the All-CC first team and competed in the USILA's Division III Senior All-Star Game.

Additionally, the men's lacrosse team's overall performance in the classroom earned the Bears an Academic Team Award, which recognizes programs achieving a GPA over 3.0. The program posted a 3.33 average GPA for the spring semester.
