Men's Lacrosse Sweeps CC Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team swept the Centennial Conference's weekly awards, with Hakan Atillasoy earning offensive player of the week recognition and Chris Porzelt collecting defensive player of the week laurels.

Atillasoy and Porzelt played key roles in a 2-0 week for the 17th-ranked Bears, who wrapped up the regular season with road victories over Muhlenberg and McDaniel.

Atillasoy was the hero on Wednesday night in Allentown, scoring the tying goal with 12.8 seconds in regulation and the game-winner in double overtime as Ursinus walked off with a wild 13-12 decision. The senior attack finished with four goals and an assist on the night.

Porzelt racked up a career-high 19 saves, stopping at least four shots in each quarter of regulation in his best performance to date.

Atillasoy was at it again on Saturday, handing out a career-best five assists to go with a goal in the Bears' 17-7 win in Westminster. His latest explosion left Atillasoy as the team leader in assists (13) and points (27) for the season. He ranks fourth in Ursinus history in goals (107), fifth in points (157), and eighth in assists (50).

Porzelt tallied four saves before giving way to Quinn Watson in the third quarter.

Through the end of the regular season, Atillasoy is tied for second in the CC in assists and third in points. Porzelt ranks fourth in goals-against average (9.13) and fifth in saves (62).

Atillasoy earned his second career offensive player of the week nod, while Porzelt is a first-time honoree.
