Men's Lax Moves up to No. 6

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ursinus College men's lacrosse garnered the highest national ranking in program history on Monday, grabbing the No. 6 slot in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll.

The Bears reached as high as No. 8 a year ago and entered last week at the same spot before a pair of impressive victories elevated them into uncharted territory. Ursinus trails only Salisbury, Tufts, Williams, RIT, and Denison in the newest top-20.

Ursinus is tied with Salisbury at 6-0 for the best record in Division III and is one of just seven unbeaten sides remaining in the national rankings. The Bears have matched last season's start for the second-best in school history, and have done so against formidable competition, owning wins over No. 14 Christopher Newport and No. 18 Stevenson.

Last week, the Bears overcame a 5-2 second-quarter deficit to post an 18-11 victory at Montclair State, then rolled to a 20-8 triumph over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Now they set their sights on undefeated Stockton, which resides just a few spots outside the rankings and has already defeated fellow Centennial Conference members McDaniel and Washington College in addition to an Elizabethtown squad that upset Dickinson. Ursinus takes on the Ospreys on Wednesday night.
