Men's Lax Sweeps CC Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. – One day after vaulting into the top-10 of the national rankings, Ursinus College men's lacrosse swept the Centennial Conference weekly awards.

Hakan Atillasoy (offensive player of the week) and Nolan Sachs (defensive player of the week) took home accolades for their key roles in helping the 9th-ranked Bears improve to 2-0 on the young season with a 15-10 victory over Mary Washington on Saturday.

The Eagles were unable to contain Atillasoy, who went off for six goals and three assists to match his career high with nine points. The junior had four goals and two helpers in the second half alone, helping Ursinus keep Mary Washington at a comfortable distance throughout. Atillasoy has put up nine goals and five assists in the first two games of the season and ranks 11th in Division III in points per contest. He now ranks eighth all-time in goals (81) and 10th in points (115) at Ursinus.

Sachs was a one-man penalty kill on Saturday, short-circuiting two Eagles man-up opportunities with caused turnovers. He finished with three on the day and also added four ground balls. Sachs is one shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to reach 50 career caused turnovers.

Both Atillasoy and Sachs are first-time CC player of the week recipients.
