Neff Tabbed CC Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Brian Neff of the Ursinus College men's lacrosse team has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Neff was on top of his game during a 2-0 week for the Bears, posting a save percentage of 67.5 and a 6.65 goals-against average in victories over Haverford and McDaniel. The two-time USILA All-American was brilliant in Wednesday's 10-8 win at Haverford, making a season-high 18 saves to help turn away the Fords' spirited upset bid. He registered 11 of his stops in the second half, including six as the Bears kept Haverford off the scoreboard for a stretch of more than 18 minutes after the home side had taken a 5-3 lead early in the third quarter.

Neff came back with nine saves in Saturday's Senior Day victory over McDaniel, playing a big role in another long scoreless drought for the opposition. After grabbing a 4-1 lead early in the second quarter, Ursinus held the Green Terror without a goal for almost 30 minutes of game time.

Neff finished the regular season second in the CC with a 6.81 goals-against average, which ranks 10th in Division III.

Ursinus (13-2, 7-1) will host Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference semifinal on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
