Men's Lacrosse Climbs in USILA Rankings

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The red-hot Ursinus College men's lacrosse team made a move up the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Division III Coaches Poll, ascending three spots to No. 16 in Monday's rankings.

Ursinus earned 111 points in the poll, which was topped for the third straight week by undefeated Salisbury with 419. Unbeaten RIT (400) was second, followed by two-time defending champion Tufs (378), Denison (335), St. Lawrence (312), Amherst (288), York (259), Bowdoin (254), Gettysburg (248), and Middlebury (230) to round out the top 10.

The Bears (9-1, 3-0 CC) stretched their winning streak to seven with a 12-7 win at Eastern on Wednesday. Ursinus, which has matched last season's start for the best in school history, is defeating opponents by an average of 6.6 goals per contest during that stretch.

Ursinus dropped one spot to No. 16 in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine rankings, but Laxpower.com tabs the Bears at No. 8 in its latest computer ratings.

The men's lacrosse team can set new program records for longest winning streak and best start to the season with a victory over Washington College under the Patterson Field lights on Wednesday. The Bears will then head to No. 9 Gettysburg for a monster Centennial Conference showdown on Saturday.
