Men's Lacrosse powers past Eastern, 9-4

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Seven different players scored for Ursinus on Tuesday afternoon, as the Bears (4-2) took the short trip to Eastern (5-3) and came away with a 9-4 win in men's lacrosse action.

Junior attack Steve Smyrl and sophomore attack Tucker Noel each scored twice in the win, with goals coming from junior midfielder Jake Weber, junior attack Mark Stratton, sophomore attack Logan Panaccione, freshman attack Conor Fitzgerald and sophomore attack Steve Mussoline.

Weber had three assists on the day, with Stratton adding in two and junior attack Mike Neal getting one. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Brian Neff held Eastern to just four goals and made 12 saves on the day. The defensive unit forced 19 Eagle turnovers, with freshman defender Zach Jones, freshman midfielder Alex Manderack and freshman midfielder Matt Cioeta each causing three. 
Junior defender Ryan Ridinger scooped up five ground balls for Ursinus.

Ursinus took a 3-0 lead in the first period, as Fitzgerald scored his first goal of the season just one minute into the game. Weber would add his first at 1:49, followed by Noel's first goal at 3:31. 

Following a goal from Eastern's Tim Lamb at 10:24, Ursinus tacked on two more to end the period as Mussoline scored at 11:20 and Stratton scored with 1:37 left in the period for a 5-1 edge. 

Eastern scored twice in the second, but, Ursinus maintained their lead with a man-up goal from Smyrl at 6:38 on a Stratton assist. 

Leading 6-3 at halftime, Panaccione's goal with 7:57 left in the third gave the Bears a 7-3 lead. Eastern would score only one time in the second half on an extra man opportunity with 5:25 left in the third. 

Ursinus hosts Swarthmore in its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday.
