McDaniel rallies to defeat Men's Lacrosse, 6-5

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – McDaniel scored five straight goals in the second half as the Green Terror (7-6, 3-3 Centennial) rallied to defeat Ursinus (5-7, 1-4 Centennial)  6-5 on Saturday afternoon in men's lacrosse play.

The Green Terror had trailed 5-1 with 11:48 left in the third quarter as junior attack Taylor Allen (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport) scored on an assist from freshman attack Mike Neal (Shelby Township, Mich./De La Salle).

Ursinus had capped a four-goal run with the tally from Allen.

The game-winning goal came from senior attack DJ Rickels with 5:40 left in the fourth on an assist from senior attack JS Duke. Duke tallied three assists in the game.

Ursinus had chances to score in the final minute, but, could not find the back of the cage.

Freshman attack Mark Stratton (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) tallied two goals for Ursinus, with freshman attack Steve Smyrl (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) scoring a goal and adding two assists.

Individually, sophomore Shawn Caven (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had five ground balls and was 9-for-14 on faceoffs.

Junior long stick midfielder Wytch Rigger (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) had three caused turnovers for Ursinus.

Junior goalkeeper T.J. Magnani (Bear, Del./St. Mark's) had nine saves in the loss.

Ursinus goes to Haverford Wednesday.
