Men's Lacrosse breezes past Richard Stockton, 12-5

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College got four goals and two assists from sophomore midfielder Dylan Spangenberg (Downingtown, Pa./Malvern Prep) as the Bears (3-1) defeated Richard Stockton (2-2) 12-5 in a men's lacrosse matchup Saturday at chilly Patterson Field.

Freshman attack Mark Stratton (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) also added in two goals and two assists as the Bears forced 24 Osprey turnovers in the win.

For Richard Stockton, freshman attack Nick Bologno had two goals, with senior attack Brian Santoleri added in a goal and an assist.

Ursinus raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, aided by two man-up goals from Spangenberg and Stratton. Spangenberg's second goal of the game came with 4:12 left to give Ursinus a 5-0 lead.

Stockton then went on a run of its own, scoring three straight goals to cut the deficit to 5-3. Bologno scored the first goal of the run on an assist from sophomore midfielder Drew Wright, while senior midfielder Wade Veselka had a goal at 13:43 left in in the second unassisted.

Ursinus scored two goals in the final 1:37 of the half, then proceeded to score four more to cap a 6-0 run and put the game out of reach.

Ursinus had a strong defensive effort in the win, holding Stockton to 12-for-22 on clears. Freshman defender Cody Lefevre (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) had three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Four players, including Spangenberg, had four ground balls.

In goal, junior T.J. Magnani (Bear, Del./St. Mark's) had 14 saves in 45 minutes, while senior Matt Columbini (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) had two in the final period.

For Stockton, sophomore defender Dan Lamela had five ground balls, with junior goalkeeper Tim Wolcott having 13 saves.

Ursinus will host Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night at 7.
