Pick Leads Men's Golf in Season Opener

MALVERN, Pa. – Jordan Pick tied for fifth in a large field as the Ursinus College men's golf team put together a solid season-opening performance at the Cabrini Invitational on Monday.

Pick fired an 8-over 79 to lead the Bears to a fourth-place team finish in their season debut; Ursinus landed on a team tally of 338, trailing only Cabrini (321), Marywood (326), and Rosemont (336). The sophomore was steady throughout the afternoon, delivering 10 pars and only one score above bogey to crack the top-5 in a field of 53 golfers.

Ursinus brought 10 golfers to White Manor Country Club, several of whom were making their collegiate debuts.

T.J. Stanton's 84 was good for the second-best round of his career and a tie for 13th overall. He carded seven pars on the afternoon and had only a pair of double bogeys.

Rookie Billy Cardino and Peyton Vostenak both impressed in their Bears debuts, posting matching scores of 86. Cardino made four consecutive pars on holes 9-12 and finished with nine on the day, while Vostenak logged a 43 on each side of the course. Kai Toomey was right behind with an 87, which featured three pars and a birdie on the par-4 15th hole.

Luke Godzieba finished with a 93 in his first appearance for the golf team, tallying four pars on the back nine.

First-year Kyle Hoke delivered three pars and birdied the par-5 17th on the way to a 95 in his debut, while John Murray had a 96 and a birdie on the par-4 4th.

Michael Nikolaou (111) and Mike Magargee (122) also competed for the first time.
