Men's Golf Opens at CC Championships

MACUNGIE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team found itself in seventh place at the conclusion of the first day of the Centennial Conference championship, which suspended play due to rain before the completion of the first round.

Two Bears were among the eight players who managed to finish 18 holes at Brookside Country Club. Junior Daniel Schlitt signed for an 86, posting birdie on the par-four 9th among six pars, and classmate Jack Bagnell shot 90.

Juniors Ryan Hodgdon and Brian Barrett each finished 14 holes, with Hodgdon finishing at 7-over 63 and Barrett at 8-over 64. Hodgdon fired a 39 on the front nine, including a birdie on the par-five 4th, while Barrett birdied the par-five 2nd.

Freshman Kyle Quagliero carded a 44 on the front nine and made par on the 10th hole before play was called. He sits at 8-over with eight holes remaining in his first round.

The first round will resume Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the second round scheduled to get underway at 11.
