Men's Golf Opens at Rosemont Invitational

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – Ryan Hodgdon and Kyle Quagliero each put together a strong first round as the Ursinus College men's golf team opened play at the two-day Rosemont Invitational on Saturday.

At the completion of the round, the Bears found themselves in 13th place with a team total of 336.

Hodgdon fired a 7-over 79 at Downingtown Country Club, ending the day in a tie for 26th in a field of 100 golfers. The sophomore had a birdie on the par-five 9th hole among 10 pars, including five on the last six holes.

Quagliero was one stroke behind with an 80. He made bogey on each of the first six holes, but was supremely steady otherwise with 10 pars on the other dozen holes. The rookie shot 2-over 38 on the back nine.

Freshman Kai Toomey signed for a career-best 87. He recorded eight pars – four on both the front nine and back nine.

Junior Daniel Schlitt shot a 90 and freshman John Murray finished with an even 100.
