Quagliero, Men's Golf Shine in Debut

WILMINGTON, Del. – Kyle Quagliero began his collegiate career in style on Sunday, capturing the individual title to lead the Ursinus College men's golf team to a runner-up showing at the Neumann/Swarthmore Fall Invitational.

Quagliero shot an even par 71 at Rock Manor Golf Club, the lowest score by an Ursinus golfer since Russell Hill carded a 69 at the Bears' spring invitational in 2015. It was enough to edge Swarthmore's Vamsi Damerla by a single stroke and make Quagliero the first in school history to win first career tournament.

Quagliero fired a 2-under 33 on the front nine, making birdie on the par-4 1st hole and par-3 3rd hole. He added two more birdies on the back, going one under par on the par-5 10th and the par-3 16th.

Swarthmore grabbed the team crown with a total of 301, placing three in the top five and ties. The Bears finished with a 320, one stroke ahead of Cabrini.

Junior Brian Barrett opened his season with an 80 to tie for 15th overall. Freshman Rob Moore's 82 was good for a tie for 21st in his collegiate debut.

Freshman Daniel Schlitt carded an 86, and juniors Jack Bagnell and Ryan Hodgdon tallied matching scores of 87. Freshman Kai Toomey rounded out the Ursinus contingent with an 89.

The Bears host their annual fall invitational on Tuesday, September 24 at Raven's Claw Golf Club.
