Men's Golf Ninth at Rosemont Invite

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team played two courses in two days during the same tournament in its last tune-up for the Centennial Conference Championship, placing ninth in a big field at the Rosemont Invitational.

The Bears finished with a team score of 680, shooting 328 at Honeybrook Golf Club on Saturday before carding a 352 at Downingtown Country Club on Sunday.

Sophomore Ryan Hodgdon was the top finisher for Ursinus, shooting a two-day 161 (80-81) to place in a tie for 26th out of 72 golfers. On Saturday, Hodgdon had back-to-back birdies on the par-4 11th hole and the par-5 12th hole, in addition to seven pars, and he birdied the par-5 fourth hole among nine pars at Downingtown the next day.

Sophomore Brian Barrett tied for 40th with a 168 (79-89), including a 79 at Honeybrook on Saturday. Barrett registered nine pars and a birdie on the 12th hole.

Senior Ryan Crawford carded an 83 on Saturday en route to a cumulative score of 175. The Bears' captain birdied the 11th hole and the par-4 16th on the first day of the tournament, then came back with eight pars on Sunday.

Senior Matt Sherman signed for an 86 on Saturday, the second-best score of his career. That round at Honeybrook featured eight pars, including a span of three in a row on holes 12-14. He shot a 90 on Sunday, four straight pars from the 14th through the 17th hole.

The Bears begin the three-day conference championship on Friday, April 27 at Brookside Country Club.
