Crawford Cards Collegiate Best in Fall Finale

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Junior Ryan Crawford fired a career-best 76 as the Ursinus College men's golf team closed its fall schedule with a fifth-place showing at the Eastern Invitational on Wednesday.

Crawford's best collegiate round paved the way for the Bears to tally their lowest team total of the season at 309, which left them only five strokes back of third. Rutgers-Camden rolled to the team title with a 283 (+3), 11 shots abreast of runner-up Cabrini (294). The host Eagles were third (304), followed by Penn State Abington (306), Ursinus (309), Stockton (317), and Cairn (357).

Crawford birdied the par-4 1st hole and the par-5 8th on the way to a 35 on the front 9 of the par-70, 6323-yard course at St. Davids Golf Club. It was his first sub-80 round of the fall and good for ninth overall in a field of 34 golfers.

Junior Lamar Saxon led the Bears with a 74, topping his previous season best by a single stroke. He had three birdies on the afternoon, including back-to-back ones on the par-3 10th and par-5 11th.

Freshman Ryan Hodgdon shot a 79 as the third Ursinus player in the 70s, and fellow rookie Brian Barrett just missed joining him, ultimately settling for an 80 that matched his previous season low set at the Ursinus Fall Invitational. Hodgdon signed for a 79 for the fourth time in six rounds this fall.

Senior Anthony Barbine capped the Ursinus five-some with a 93.
