Men's Golf Takes 5th at Home Invitational

SANATOGA, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team posted its best score in almost a full year at its fall home invitational on Tuesday, placing fifth of 11 teams 317.

Cabrini handled the Raven's Claw course with ease, accounting for half of the top eight on the individual leaderboard and running away with the team title on the strength of a 5-over 289. Rutgers-Camden was second with an even 300, while Albright (304) was four shots back in fourth. Albright (314) took fourth, followed by the Ursinus Gold team (317), Penn State-Berks (320), Immaculata (326), Penn State-Hazleton (335), Ursinus Black (354), Cairn (362), and Bryn Athyn (364).

Cabrini's Clay Anders carded a 3-under 68 to top the 52-man field, with PSU-Abington's Mike Lam and Cabrini's Joseph Myers tying for second with a 72.

Junior Lamar Saxon produced Ursinus' lowest score of the day for the second straight tournament, shooting a 78 to tie for 13th overall. Freshman Ryan Hodgdon was right behind with a 79 (T-16th), while fellow rookie Brian Barrett and junior Ryan Crawford both scored 80 to tie for 19th. Those four cards gave the Ursinus Gold squad its lowest score since a 314 in the first round of last season's fall Revolutionary Collegiate Classic.

Freshman Jack Bagnell and junior Max Schwartz paced the Black team with 84s.

Ursinus Gold's 317 was the Bears' lowest tally ever at the fall edition of its home invitational, and the fifth-place finish matched the best in program history at the event.

The Bears continue their fall slate on Monday, October 3 when they travel to Allentown for the Muhlenberg Invitational at Lehigh Country Club.
