Men's Basketball Nets Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rising seniors Bruce Edwards, George Gordon, and Lucas Olshevski joined 2020 graduate Ryan McTamney to represent Ursinus College on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Roll, while the Bears' men's basketball team received a Team Academic Excellence Award for the fourth straight season.

The Team Academic Excellence Award is given to programs that tally a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 campaign. The Bears achieved a 3.30 GPA as a team.

McTamney is a two-time recipient of the award, which recognizes juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better at the end of the academic year. The Bears produced four Honors Court student-athletes for the third straight year, tied for the program's highest total since having six in 2009.

A Health & Exercise Physiology major, McTamney earned second team All-Centennial Conference laurels after ranking second in the conference in scoring at 18.0 points per game and fourth in rebounding with 6.8 boards per game. He ended his career eighth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,380 points and graduated with a 3.42 GPA.

Gordon had a breakout year, posting career highs of 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds to rank third on the team in the former and fourth in the latter. He owns a 3.79 cumulative GPA as an Economics major.

Edwards, like Gordon, started all 25 games for the Bears, averaging 7.2 points and 5.8 rebounds a game. He is an Economics major with a 3.40 GPA.

Olshevski produced per-game averages of 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 22 appearances. A Business and Economics major, he holds a 3.88 cumulative GPA.

Edwards, Gordon, and Olshevski all earned their way onto the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll this winter.
