Janicot, Rafferty Named to Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ursinus College men's basketball rising seniors Remi Janicot and Brian Rafferty have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Court, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Honors Court recognizes juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better at the end of the 2016-17 academic year.

A neuroscience major and two-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Janicot started 26 games at forward for Ursinus during the past season. The Paris native averaged 7.7 points per game and ranked second on the team at 5.8 rebounds per game, posting three double-doubles. He will enter his senior season with career totals of 616 points and 516 rebounds.

Rafferty, an applied economics major, registered averages of 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in 2016-17. The Bears' starting point guard led the CC with 108 assists and was third with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. Through his first three seasons, Rafferty ranks sixth in Ursinus history with 338 career assists, a figure that places him 13th all-time in the conference.

After leading Ursinus to a 15-12 overall record (11-7 CC) and its first playoff victory since 2008, Janicot and Rafferty comprise half of a four-man core of returning starters for the 2017-18 campaign.
