Williams Jr. Grabs Second CC Player of the Week Award

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the second time in three weeks, Ursinus College sophomore Eric Williams Jr. is the Centennial Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Williams averaged 21.0 points on 59.1-percent shooting in a 2-0 week for the Bears. On Thursday, he drained six 3-pointers on the way to a career-high 30 points to spark Ursinus to a 102-8 6 victory at defending CC champion Franklin & Marshall, the Bears' first triumph in Lancaster since 2007. The sophomore shooting guard followed that effort with three more treys and 12 points in an 80-68 defeat of McDaniel on Saturday.

Williams, who added six rebounds and four assists in the two victories, went 9 for 16 (56.3 percent) from beyond the arc for the week. He currently ranks second in the conference in 3-pointers made (20), and his 54.1 percent success rate from deep is good for third in the CC and 28th in Division III. Williams, who has made at least three 3-pointers in four of six contests, is averaging 15.2 points per game for the CC's leader in scoring offense (82.7), field-goal percentage (49.4), and 3-point percentage (40.9).

Ursinus, off to its first 3-0 conference start since its undefeated run during the 2007-08 campaign, entertains preseason favorite Swarthmore on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
