Men's Basketball earns season sweep of Gettysburg with 72-65 win

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Putting four starters in double figures, the Ursinus College men's basketball team swept the season series from Gettysburg with a 72-65 win over the Bullets on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Paced by 17 points from junior guard Malik Draper, the Bears led for most of the game and had as much as a ten-point lead late in the game. Freshman forward Joseph LoStracco and freshman guard Brian Rafferty each had 15, with freshman forward Remi Janicot netting ten. The Bears shot 43 percent from the field in the game and held the Bullets (7-5 CC, 11-8) to just 28.6 percent shooting in the second half.

Ursinus (4-8 CC, 7-12) took a nine point lead early at 18-9 on back-to-back three-pointers from freshman guard Robert Rossiter and sophomore forward Steve Leonard.  Leonard's came with 13:27 left in the first half. Gettysburg would make a run of its own to take a 25-22 lead with 5:49 left on a layup by Kevin Gladstone. From there, Ursinus closed the half by outscoring the Bullets 14-7 to take a 36-32 lead at intermission.

With the score tied at 49-all with nine minutes remaining in the game, Ursinus took control by going on a 10-3 run, going up 59-52 on a three-pointer from Rafferty with 6:22 left. After that, Gettysburg could not get closer than six points the rest of the way.

The Bullets were led by 13 points from Cody Kiefer, and 12 points from Sean Gordon.

Ursinus had a commanding 45-33 edge in rebounding with Leonard and LoStracco picking up nine each. Rafferty had five assists for Ursinus, who host Swarthmore on Wednesday.
