Men's Basketball takes out McDaniel in OT, 58-50

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Trailing by nine at intermission, the Ursinus College men's basketball team fought back and forced overtime against McDaniel, eventually taking a 58-50 over the Green Terror in men's basketball action on Saturday.

The Bears (3-7 Centennial, 6-11), held McDaniel to just eight field goals over the last 25 minutes and the Green Terror (6-4 Centennial, 11-5) shot just 24.6 percent from the field in the loss.

Ursinus got a game-high 17 points from junior guard Malik Draper and 13 points from sophomore guard Matt Knowles, who sent the game into overtime with a driving layup from the right side with eight seconds left. Freshman forward Joseph LoStracco had 11 points and tied for game-high honors in rebounds with freshman forward Remi Janicot with 13. The Bears had a 48-42 rebounding edge.

McDaniel was led by 12 points from Wes Brooks and ten from Cameron Royster.

Ursinus forced overtime by holding McDaniel without a field goal over the last 3:05. A pair of foul shots from Janicot with 1:12 left got the Bears within two, before Knowles forced the extra session.

The Bears scored the first nine points of the extra session, with two foul shots from freshman guard Brian Rafferty with 2:24 left gave the Bears a nine-point edge at 53-44. The Bears were 10-for-15 from the foul line in the overtime and a perfect 2-for-2 from the field.

This is the fifth straight win at home for Ursinus, who will be on the road Tuesday at Haverford.
