Men's Basketball upended by Swarthmore, 91-86

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Swarthmore put five players in double figures as the Garnet (2-3, 2-0 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (1-4, 0-2 Centennial) 91-86 on Tuesday night in men's basketball play.

Ursinus, who trailed by as much as 25 points in the first half, nearly pulled off a large rally as the Bears scored 62 points in the final 20 minutes but could not get any closer than five points in the final minutes.

The Bears were led by sophomore guard Trevor Norton who scored 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting with six three-pointers. Senior guard Pat Vasturia had 14 points off of the bench in the loss.

Swarthmore was led by junior guard Karl Barkley who had 19 points and 17 points each from freshman forward Chris Bourne and freshman guard Sam Lebryk.

After shooting just 30 percent in the first half, Ursinus rebounded to connect on 52.8 percent of their shots in the second half and sank eight three-pointers. The Bears did hold Swarthmore without a field goal in the final 4:16 of the second half.

Ursinus did have a 39-34 lead on the glass, with junior guard Trey Harry grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

Ursinus takes off for Thanksgiving, then heads to F&M on Tuesday.
