Men's Basketball downs Gettysburg, 67-59

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Paced by 20 points from junior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and 14 points off the bench from junior guard Matt Donahue (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity), the Ursinus College men's basketball team defeated Gettysburg 67-59 Saturday afternoon.

Ursinus, needing every win possible to stay alive in the Centennial Conference playoff race with two weeks to go, rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Bullets (9-12, 6-8 Centennial) 43-28 in the second half.

Donahue was a big part of that rally for the Bears (8-13, 7-7 Centennial) as he scored 11 points in the second half. Nine of them came in a three minute span to help Ursinus cut the deficit from ten all the way down to one.

Sophomore guard Pat Vasturia (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) scored ten points for Ursinus, who went 10-for-20 from the three point line in the game.

Gettysburg got 12 points each from Tim Land, Christian Bors, Sean Gordon and Alex Zurn in the loss.

Ursinus iced the game with 1:33 left as Ward scored a three-point play to give Ursinus a 61-57 lead. Ward's foul shot started a sequence in which Ursinus made 6-of-7 foul shots down the stretch.

Both teams finished with 38 rebounds, with Ward, sophomore guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) and sophomore guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School) each having seven.

Ursinus will host Haverford on Wednesday.
