GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A 11-0 run over a six-minute span in the last third of the second half gave Ursinus (9-12, 6-8 Centennial) a 64-59 win over Gettysburg (11-10, 8-6 Centennial) Saturday afternoon.
The Bears, trailing 49-48 with 6:31 left, went on the 11-0 run and ended up with a 59-49 advantage with 56 seconds left. During the run, the Bears were 6-for-6 from the foul line, part of an 18-for-19 performance (94.7 percent) in the second half.
Ursinus was led by sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) who had 19 points with senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) adding in 14. Freshman point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) had 14 points. Both Krasna and Hilton were 9-for-10 from the foul line, with the Bears going 30-for-33 from the line in the contest. Ward finished the game 7-for-8 from the field.
For Gettysburg, Andrew Powers had 25 points.
After Gettysburg took a quick 3-2 lead, Ursinus led most of the way going up by as much 14 points in the first half.
The Bears had a 33-23 lead in rebounds, with sophomore forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) grabbing eight.
The Bears travel to Haverford on Wednesday.
