14 Gymnastics Student-Athletes Named WCGA Academic All-Americans

ITHACA , N.Y. – Fourteen members of the Ursinus College gymnastics team were recognized as Scholastic All-America Award winners by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

Recent graduates Gabrielle Pitt, Kaylin Knapsack, and Abigail Schwerdt joined rising seniors Alyssa DeLorme, Lindsey Thornton, and Kasey Ricci; rising juniors Ashley Cromer and Carly Troilo; and rising sophomores Megan Matteucci, Isabella Scarpetti, Kyleigh Pierce, Erin Stubbs, Adison Tanguay, and Madison Zimmerman in receiving the award, which is given to student-athletes with a 3.50 overall grade-point average or a 3.50 GPA for the current academic year. The Bears' Scholastic All-America Award recipients constituted 77.9 percent of the overall team roster for the 2021-22 school year.

This year's WCGA announcement continued the consistent classroom success that head coach Kim Valenti has built in the Ursinus gymnastics program. As a team, the Bears recorded a 3.61 overall team GPA and ranked 34th in the team GPA rankings for all divisions. Ursinus registered the 6th-highest GPA among Division III programs nationwide.

Cromer, DeLorme, Matteucci, Pierce, Pitt, Scarpetti, and Schwerdt all posted perfect 4.0 GPAs for the spring semester, and five others posted a 3.70 or higher.

Pitt completed her collegiate career by earning her fourth Scholastic All-American award while DeLorme became a three-time Scholastic All-America Award recipient. The Bears garnered double-digit honorees for the fourth-straight season.
