Multiple Personal Bests Set at Cortland Quad Meet for Gymnastics

CORTLAND, N.Y. – In their final tune-up before NCGA East Regionals, the Ursinus Gymnastics team competed against three east region schools they will be seeing again next weekend in a quad meet at Cortland on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Bears posted a team score of 186.100 behind tallies of 46.975 on the vault, 46.875 on the bars, 46.675 on the beam, and 45.575 on the floor. Brockport won the team title with a total score of 191.900 followed by the host Cortland with a 188.225, and Rhode Island College scoring a 187.025.

 

 

Starting on the beam, First-year Isabella Scarpetti had a career-best day for the event by posting the Bears high score at a 9.5. Schwerdt posted a 9.475 to finish just behind Scarpetti and senior Gabrielle Pitt recorded a career-best score of 9.275. Sophomore Ashley Cromer also posted a career-best score as well with a 9.225 and DeLorme (9.2) plus first-year Madison Zimmerman (9.075) rounded out Ursinus on the beam.

 

 

DeLorme paced the Bears on the floor with a 9.5 and junior Kasey Ricci registered a new career-best score of 9.425. First-year Daria Gregory placed third among Ursinus gymnasts on the floor with a 9.375.

 

 

Senior Taylor Cusick once again spearheaded the Bears on the vault as she posted a score of 9.525. Cusick has posted the Bears high score on the vault in every meet she has competed in this season. Panetta followed with a 9.475 and DeLorme finished third among the Bears with a 9.425. Zimmerman registered a 9.375 on the vault and Cromer posted a score of 9.175.

 

 

Ursinus closed the day on the bars and Schwerdt picked right where she left off last week by registering a career-best 9.775 on the bars, shattering her old previous best of 9.625, and leading the Bears while finishing second overall. DeLorme recorded a score of 9.625 to finish sixth overall and second among the Bears and Panetta posted a season-high score on the bars at 9.500. First-year Adison Tanguay recorded a score of 9.250 for the second-straight week on the bars and finished fourth among the Ursinus gymnasts.

 

DeLorme finished third overall in the all-around standings after posting a total score of 37.750.

 

The Bears return to action on Saturday, March 12th for the NCGA East Regionals at 1 p.m. The regional meet will be hosted by Springfield.
