SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team battled through competing with an incomplete roster to string together a strong display against Springfield and Ithaca on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears posted their highest score of the season as a team on the bars in their only event in which they fielded a full lineup due to injuries. Ursinus recorded a team score of 171.625 that was hardly indicative of Bears gymnasts stepping up and achieving individual season bests.

Ithaca won the team title with an overall score of 187.150 while the host Springfield followed with a score of 186.500.

The Bears season-high score of 45.350 on the bars was led by junior Alyssa DeLorme, who finished second overall with a score of 9.550. First-year Megan Matteucci recorded a personal-best score of 9.2 on the bars and was followed by sophomore Carly Troilo, who also posted a career-best on the bars with a 9.025.

First-year Madison Zimmerman once again impressed on the beam as she recorded a 9.6 to lead the Bears and finish third overall. Senior Kaylin Knapsack tallied a season-best on the beam at 9.325 and classmate Gabrielle Pitt record a 9.0 to finish third overall among the Bears.

Troilo paced Ursinus on the vault with a career-best score on the vault at 9.400 and DeLorme posted the second-highest score on the team at 9.375. Zimmerman topped her previous best on the vault from last week with a 9.3 today and Pitt recorded a 9.2 in her first action on the vault in 2022.

DeLorme led the Bears in the floor exercise with a 9.225 and junior Kasey Ricci registered a career-best 9.025 to finish second among the Ursinus gymnasts.

Ursinus returns to action on Friday, February 11th as they will travel to compete in the Rutgers Quad-Meet alongside the Scarlet Knights, No. 16 Iowa, and Kent State at 7 p.m.
