Gymnastics Competes at Pink Invite

PHILADELPHIA – The Ursinus College gymnastics team competed against some of the best gymnasts in the country all while supporting a great cause as they represented the college at the Pink Invite hosted at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Ursinus marked a team total of 186.250 in a loaded competition that also featured Temple, Illinois State, Southern Connecticut State, and West Chester. The meet supported Unite for Her, a non-profit organization that helps care for the physical and emotional needs of breast and ovarian cancer patients in the local and gymnastics communities.

The Bears matched their season high with a 47.250 on the vault. Shruthi Anand led the way with a career-best 9.600, with Alex Panetta and Breanna Couts notching matching tallies of 9.450. Emma Gable was right behind with a 9.400, and Alyssa DeLorme earned a 9.350 in her vault debut. Kasey Ricci turned in a 9.200 in her second appearance of the year.

Hailey DiCicco was sensational on the uneven bars, seizing a new career high with a 9.6750 to finish in the top-12 overall. DeLorme also produced a PR at 9.600.

Eleanor LaFountain tallied a 9.400, with Gable collecting a 9.3250 and Abigail Schwedt checking in at 9.1750.

Kaylin Knapsack continued to set the pace on the balance beam, placing 14th overall with a 9.6250. Knapsack has scored at least that high on every beam routine this season.

DeLorme and Autumn Snape also scored well for Ursinus, with each garnering a 9.300 from the judges.

Gable and Taylor Cusick were the Bears' prime performers on the floor exercise, both earning a 9.2750. Anand grabbed a second personal best for the night with a 9.250, and Panetta registered a 9.100 in her floor debut. DiCicco came in at an even 9.000.

The Bears wrap up a busy weekend with a trip to Ithaca on Sunday, when they'll take on the Bombers and Brockport in an East Region tri-meet.
